Línudanskennsla með Jóa á sér langa sögu

Jóhann Örn Ólafsson stundaði samkvæmisdans sem barn og unglingur. Sýndi og keppti og varð margfaldur Íslandsmeistari. Hann varð útskrifaðist sem danskennari í Englandi og á Íslandi vorið 1993 og stofnaði sinn eigin dansskóla um haustið sama ár. Hann lærði sín fyrstu línudansspor hjá bandaríska varnarliðinu í Keflavík árið 1994 og hélt fyrsta línudansnámskeiðið hérlendis sumarið 1995.

Jói hefur því kennt línudans í yfir þrjá áratugi og hjálpað fjölda fólks að stíga sín fyrstu spor. Kennslan einkennist af skýrri uppbyggingu, góðri stemningu og gleðinni sem fylgir því að dansa saman.

Beginners class Tuesdays at 8:30 PM

A Long History of Line Dance Instruction

Jóhann Örn Ólafsson began his dance journey as a child and teenager studying ballroom dancing. He performed, competed, and became a multiple-time Icelandic champion. In 1993, he graduated as a certified dance instructor in both England and Iceland and opened his own dance school later that same year.

Jói learned his first line dance steps at the American military base in Keflavík in 1994 and taught one of Iceland’s first line dance courses in the summer of 1995.

For more than three decades, he has been teaching line dancing and helping countless people take their first steps onto the dance floor. His teaching style is known for its clear structure, welcoming atmosphere, and the joy that comes from dancing together.

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced dancer, you will find a class that suits your level and a friendly environment where learning, dancing, and having fun go hand in hand.
